A Mountain of Gratitude

The mountain biking season was a whirlwind of dirt, adrenaline, and camaraderie. From the first warm September days to the crisp November air, our team was dedicated to pushing their limits and exploring new trails. Each ride was an opportunity for them to challenge themselves, discover hidden gems, and bond with their teammates.

Local Exploration

We explored local hotspots, such as Brumley Nature Preserve, Lake Crabtree, and our very own Carolina North Forest - the place we call home.

The teens challenged themselves on technical descents, and pushed their limits on the short, but grueling climbs.

Two riders who truly embodied the spirit of mountain biking was Jose (left) and Kevin (right).

Both had infectious enthusiasm and an unwavering passion for the sport. They were a constant source of inspiration. Kevin's dedication to improving his skills and his willingness to help others also made him an invaluable member of our team.

THE FINAL RIDE

Our Trip to Hendersonville

As the season reached its peak, we embarked on an epic trip to Hendersonville, NC, to ride the legendary trails of Dupont Forest. Although the vibrant fall foliage was all but gone, the technical terrain and breathtaking views made for an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect destination to cap off our season. We spent two days exploring the forest, from the flowy single-track to the rugged, rocky climbs.

We express our sincere gratitude to you, our generous donors. Your support made this incredible season possible. Thanks to you, we were able to share our passion for mountain biking with teens who do not often get that opportunity. Therefore, creating lasting memories and extending the passion and desire to protect lands such as those we rode.

Leaders of the Trip

On this trip we welcomed back former youth cyclists, Niko Strauss and Rowan Crites, as tour guide and ride leaders, respectively. We also welcomed a new volunteer, Steve Beasley, who joined us and rekindled his love of mountainous biking.

A special shoutout to Lynn Weller and David Kaminski, owners of River Mill Cycles in Saxapahaw, NC, for the use of their beautiful cabin in Hendersonville, NC. While Steve and I successfully managed to tent in the 42-degree temperatures, also doing so would have dampened the experiences of the youth for this enjoyable weekend.
