Day 12 of 21 …
By my counts today is day 12 of 21. I’ve lost count and my shoulders hurt too much and causing me unnecessary thought cycles to go look up the actual number. But take it from me, it’s day 12. Even with the missed days I was keeping count.
Last night I helped a friend celebrate his 46th birthday. I didn’t think I’d make it because Saturday’s are definitely assigned to the kids. Basketball and the strange errands that you weren’t told to do 3-4 days ago suddenly are urgent matters. So, by 3:30pm I was sitting on the bed typing away and passing out. Only to awake and begin typing again. This went on for about 3 iterations before I gave up and just officially took a quick nap.
We had a great time last night. Good food, good beer and great conversation. After a few attempts at trying to reenact the game Fruit Ninja conversations moved toward a report that if people sang more there would be less violence in the world. Some report, I don’t remember where or when I saw it but the joke, or task if you want to put it that way, was to respond to marital adversity in operatic verse. Like Les Miserables. This idea of singing lead to Google apps called Auto Rap and Songify.
Now this is instant karaoke! And became the life of the party for the next 2 hours. Some were instant hits and made us all laugh and some were instant bombs. In the end, we all had a great time meeting new people, laughing and celebrating the birth anniversary of a good friend.
What does all of this have to do with exercise and creating a habit? Nothing. But it is a testament to my commitment to myself and the project. You see, the party finally broke up at 2:25AM, I awoke at 8AM to do my workout before going downstairs to cook breakfast for the kids.
I may be passing out again in the late afternoon but I got my morning workout and commitments in for today and I’m happy about that.
