The SnR Fall College Prep Program – The college prep program is from September to December of each year. It provides an understanding of the value of a college education in reaching individual life and career goals. Opportunities are presented for campus visits, making professional connections in different employment sectors, coaching and mentoring.
With a path to college in mind, high school class selection, grades, standardized tests, and assistance with key tasks like applying for college, scholarships and financial aid are put into focus. The program volunteer’s role in preparing youth to be ready to successfully apply for college is to keep them aware of requirements and timelines and closely monitor their progress. Providing coaching as needed.
Monitoring includes, but is not limited to, guiding students to take the first steps such as enrolling in a college prep curriculum beginning freshman year, taking the ACT/SAT’s in their junior year, and applying for financial assistance during their senior year. Each individual’s progress is carefully monitored.
